Today we have a new project!
It's the huge 1/8th scale DeAgostini "Wild Speed" (Fast & Furious) BNR34 Nissan Skyline GT-R.
DeAgostini is a company known for it subscription-based, monthly large scale model building sets which are released over (or up to) 110 installments released every week for models from various genres. For automobiles, the largest scale is 1/8th, however smaller scales (in fully built form) are also available. The model in this series is none other than Brian's modified BNR34 Nissan Skyline that stole the show in 2 Fast 2 Furious released in 2003. The Fast & Furious franchise is known as "Wild Speed" in Japan as it makes for a better title in Japanese than a direct translation.
So why is this 1/8th scale Skyline GT-R build already well underway? We collected each bi-weekly installment with the intention to 'build it all at once', but after considering how big a job that would be it was decided that it was a better idea to document things as we go along. So here's BNR34 as it is now at installment #30:
The parts are assembled according to each installment's instruction booklet which make up a unit (such as the engine) over a number of weeks:
All parts are highly detailed as you would expect from a scale model of this size. The chassis is separated into 3 sections to make the package sizes a little larger than an A4 paper sized box similar in size to the other installments:
