The first G-SHOCK model, the DW-5000C, was born in 1983. The iconic square design remains intact, but the GMW-B5000 series is now fully metal and equipped with advanced features such as smartphone link. The shock-resistant structure of the watch, which sandwiches a fine resin buffer between the hard stainless steel metal bezel and the main case, makes the case fully metal. The back cover is a heavy screw-back case with DLC treatment for excellent wear resistance. The entire case and band are gold IP treated to achieve beautiful color development. Visibility is also improved using a film solar cell and STN-LCD (liquid crystal). In terms of functionality, it is equipped with Bluetooth® communication function, and accurate time information can be obtained by linking with a dedicated app. In addition, it is equipped with practical features such as a time correction system using standard radio waves (Multiband 6), stable operation using Tough Solar charging, high-brightness full auto LED backlight, world time, and day of the week display in six languages.
