A Japanese fan to commemorate the 60th anniversary (1958 - 2018) of the Subaru brand's iconic car, the Subaru360 and Tokyo Tower both of which were released in 1958.
What is Tenugui? Tenugui is a traditional Japanese decorative towel made from a thin and light cotton.
This handmade fan uses a tenugui from the Subaru 'Set B' design cloth on the surface. This product has a unique presence that combines the gentle texture of the tenugui with the simplicity of the fan, while still maintaining its pop impression.
Production process: Watch the video
This is the process of applying glue to the bamboo bones arranged radially on the paper and then joining the square-cut fabric. From the point of arranging each bone, skilled craftsmen work meticulously by hand. Since everything is made of natural materials, many years of experience and intuition are required to finish the fan straight and flat to prevent warping or other distortions.
