The first complete STi model of the second-generation Impreza WRX. Based on the "STi Type RA Spec C", the STi was tuned by Subaru's motorsport specialist company STI (Subaru Technica International). It was released in 2002 in a limited run of 400 units. Forged aluminium wheels and a lightweight titanium muffler further reduced the weight, and the rear suspension was equipped with arms with built-in pillow ball bushes, which was unusual for a commercially available car at the time. The weight-reduced body is equipped with a 2-liter horizontally opposed 4-cylinder turbo engine that has increased output to 320ps without sacrificing drivability with STi's ball bearing turbine and special ECU. Other special features include special slotted brake rotors that strengthen braking force and a dry carbon rear wing with a two-stage angle adjustment mechanism.
