About Hokuyo Glass:

Hokuyo Glass Co., Ltd. is a glass manufacturer founded in 1949. Originally, the company made glass floats for use in the fishing industry. The floats were made using the "free-blowing" technique possessed by craftsmen.

This technique does not use a mold, but instead involves blowing glass wound around a rod in mid-air to create a shape. It is an extremely difficult technique to create a round floating ball by mid-air blowing. However, the craftsmen continued to pursue high quality and improved their skills. This is the first traditional craft of Aomori prefecture.

Tsugaru Biidoro discovered colored glass by chance while making various products, and became fascinated with it. Now he makes his own colored glass that reproduces the colors of nature.
